Wesley Music Centre

The Wesley Music Centre was opened in 2002 and includes a purpose-built Music Room with excellent acoustics seating up to 140 people. The sought-after space was designed specifically for small-scale chamber concerts for instruments, keyboard and voice, for master classes, for recordings and other musical events and is also ideally suited for lectures, symposia, seminars and workshops. The acoustics can be varied for different events. Associated spaces include a seminar room, a tutorial room, a recording studio (bio box), a foyer with kitchen facilities and the Centre office.

Songwriter Robin Mann to attend ‘Singing the Faith’ seminar

Singing the Faith, a national ecumenical seminar on Word and music in worship, will be held at Wesley Uniting Church and Wesley Music Centre, Forrest, from Friday, 20 October to Sunday, 22 October, 2006.

This weekend is designed to stimulate and encourage everyone with an interest in, or responsibility for, music in worship. A variety of topics and music styles will be covered in practical workshops for singers, organists and keyboard players, instrumentalists and worship leaders.

Facilitators include the renowned hymn and songwriter Robin Mann (from SA) and Rev. Dr Peter Blackwood (Vic), researcher in church music and liturgist.

Singing the Faith is a national seminar on Word and Music in Christian Worship, being held Friday 20 October to Sunday 22 October 2006 at Wesley Uniting Church and Wesley Music Centre, 20-22 National Circuit, Forrest, ACT

A PACT public lecture, plenary sessions, workshops, worship and discussions for ministers of the word, lay worship leaders, music leaders, singers, instrumentalists, organists and other keyboard players, authors, composers, theologians and theological students, academics and musicians involved in small and large congregations in city and country

Outstanding leaders and facilitators include author and composer Robin Mann (SA), author of hymns and songs Shirley Murray and hymnbook publisher Rev John Murray (NZ), contemporary worship facilitator Amelia Koh-Butler (NSW Synod UCA), music director Elizabeth Swain (NSW), contemporary music leader Jamie Pryor (ACT), minister of the word Rev. Gregor Henderson (ACT and UCA Assembly President-elect), organist and teacher Peter Guy and others.
