From Canberra Region Presbytery Chairperson, Vanessa Crimmins
Late last year the Catholic Women’s Commission contacted the Presbytery to ask if we would be interested in doing something about family violence. We, along with the Anglicans, were invited to meet together to discuss what could be done. At the first meeting, I asked Ranjini Wickramaratne-Rebera from Gungahlin Uniting Church and Community Centre and Delia Quigley from Tuggeranong Uniting to attend with me.
The result of that initial meeting is the booklet, For Such a Time As This. It is this Presbytery’s contribution to An Ecumenical Response to Domestic Violence, “For Such a Time As This,” which is being held by the Catholic Commission of Women, on 18 June, 9.30am to 4pm (BYO lunch) at the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, Barton – more information on this event follows the description of the booklet and its call to prayer below. Listed here are services taking place in Canberra Region this week. If the church you would like to attend is not listed here, please go to the menu where you can look up congregations and their contact details to find out more.

The Queanbeyan Live Christmas Nativity Trail celebrates its third year with five churches taking part in 2015, and will be held on Sunday 20 December from 4pm to 6pm. Everyone is invited to begin by hearing the Roman census proclamation at the Salvation Army, then pick up a passport and map and take a walking tour of the interactive Nativity Scenes (including live participants) at:
In this Christmas season, some people approach Christmas in grief or without a loved one, or, in a word — blue.
Join us at Kippax Uniting Church on Wednesday 9th December 2015 at 8pm for a special time, led by Hannah Dungan, Congregational Development Minister.
