On Tuesday 7th February 2017 at St Christopher’s Cathedral, Forrest there will be an Ecumenical Service to commemorate the commencement of the Australian Parliament for 2017. The event will commence at 7.30am and conclude at approximately 8.15am.
The Parliamentary Christian Fellowship has issued an invitation to all Churches reminding us that this service is an opportunity to remember our privileges and responsibilities before God and to ask for His blessing on our nation. As with previous services, it is anticipated that lessons will be read by the Governor General, the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition. The Sermon will be delivered by the Rev David Campbell, Senior Minister of the Presbyterian Church of St Andrew, Forrest.
There will be limited parking available from 7am to 8.30am in the grounds of the Catholic Education Office (Opposite the Cathedral, 52-54 Franklin St). Parking can also be accessed from the public parking available in the Manuka area.
Please rsvp by email email@example.com or to Sarah on (08) 8205 1040 to confirm your attendance.

From Canberra Region Presbytery Chairperson, Vanessa Crimmins
Late last year the Catholic Women’s Commission contacted the Presbytery to ask if we would be interested in doing something about family violence. We, along with the Anglicans, were invited to meet together to discuss what could be done. At the first meeting, I asked Ranjini Wickramaratne-Rebera from Gungahlin Uniting Church and Community Centre and Delia Quigley from Tuggeranong Uniting to attend with me.
The result of that initial meeting is the booklet, For Such a Time As This. It is this Presbytery’s contribution to An Ecumenical Response to Domestic Violence, “For Such a Time As This,” which is being held by the Catholic Commission of Women, on 18 June, 9.30am to 4pm (BYO lunch) at the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, Barton – more information on this event follows the description of the booklet and its call to prayer below.
